Mission

Mission
At August Gate we often use “Gospel” as a verb.  When we do, we understand it as following the example of Jesus by loving our communities, serving our communities and telling our communities the Good News that God saves sinners. We feel the best way to live on mission is in community and therefore we encourage and challenge our Gospel Communities to be involved in these three areas to Gospel their context.

Loving
Expressing the benevolence of God to those in need.

  •  caring for the elderly, the poor, single moms, unborn babies
  • “true religion” of James 1:27
  • “Gospel Justice”

Serving
Reflecting God’s common grace by involving yourself with existing culture.

  • Making your community a better place to live
  • Beautification projects
  • Involvement in neighborhood associations and events

Telling
Mirroring God’s mission by pursuing the lost and sharing with them the hope of the Gospel.

  • Creating opportunities for longevity based evangelism (making disciples)
  • Taking opportunities for to introduce people to the Gospel (proclamation)
    • 1 out of every 4 weeks our Gospel communities host a community dinner or family night whereby they intentionally invite friends, neighbors, family and co-workers into an environment where the Gospel can thrive
